Exercise 1: Form the Passive
Complete each sentence with the passive form of the verb in brackets (be + past participle) in the tense shown by the time words.

Exercise 2: Active to Passive
Rewrite the idea in the passive. Complete the second sentence with the correct passive verb form.
The chef prepared the meal. → The meal by the chef.
Someone cleans the office every night. → The office every night.

Select the correct form for each sentence.

Exercise 4: Fix the Passive
Each sentence has one passive voice error. Write the correct sentence.

Exercise 5: Passive or Active? You Decide
Complete each sentence with the correct active or passive form of the verb in brackets. Ask: does the subject do the action or receive it?
The new policy (affect) all part-time employees.

Exercise 6: Describe a Process
Processes are usually described in the passive because the steps matter more than the people.
Describe how a dish from your culture is made, in five to seven sentences. Use at least four passive verbs (is washed, are added, is served...).
Write three passive sentences about your city or town: something that was built, something that is being changed, and something that will be opened.
